Sam Darnold felt confident after leading his team to his second victory of the season.
The New York Jets’ quarterback racked up 230 yards and had two scores (one touchdown and one on the floor) in Sunday’s 34-27 win over the New York Giants. After the match, Darnold said the team still had a chance to participate in the playoffs if it won, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.
Of course, the Jets are still 2-7, even with the win, and seemed to be one of the worst teams in the league all year, making it a pretty absurd statement. But they have a pretty easy schedule (facing three teams that are actually lousier than Washington, Miami and Cincinnati), so you can not blame Darnold for keeping the faith.
At least, this is not the worst thing the 22-year-old has said this season.
