The Houston Texans quarterback, Deshaun Watson, appeared to have produced a dazzling touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts – until the referees had their say.
At 3rd on 4, Watson seems to have avoided two sacks, remained standing and managed to find DeAndre Hopkins in the end zone for a touchdown in Houston. It was however decided in the field that Watson was “within reach” of Colts defender Justin Houston, which meant that he had been rejected and that the game had been saved as a sack.

Watson’s knee never touches the ground. He is clearly still trying to throw while Houston is trying to knock him off. At no time, this game should have been stopped.
This is not the first time this rule has been applied bizarrely in a match. It’s meant to protect the quarterback, but in this case, Watson does not need protection yet.
