Aroldis Chapman is not going anywhere.
Chapman had reported Friday that he wanted a contract extension with the New York Yankees and that he would waive his current contract if he did not receive it. Well, both parties accepted one.
Chapman is already under contract for the next two seasons at $ 30 million. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, this extension will give Chapman another $ 18 million year.
This means that Chapman will do the following over the next three years:
2020: $ 15 million
2021: $ 15 million
2022: 18 million dollars
2023: Free agent
Chapman, who turns 32 in February, made 37 saves on 42 chances this season. His 2.21 ERA was the lowest of his three full seasons with the Yankees.
