Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns made the NBA front page on Wednesday night when they were sent off for their fight on the field, but many people were more interested in the social media battle that followed. While the two great men exchanged many common speeches, Embiid may have also become very personal with Towns.
If you followed all the tragedies that occurred with the Minnesota Timberwolves early last season, you may recall rumors that Jimmy Butler would like an exchange with Minnesota in part because of a drama involving him and Towns’s girlfriend. Black Sports Online had a summary of it at the time, but the bottom line was that Butler had an intimate relationship with a woman dating Towns. At about the time the so-called connection took place, Towns and his girlfriend stopped talking to each other on social networks.
This is what an Instagram user claimed to have said about “any one of the organization”.

Of course, there is no way to confirm it. However, rumors have taken enough steam for cities to feel the need to shoot them down.

Fast forward to Wednesday evening. As you know, Butler was traded from Minnesota to the Philadelphia 76ers last season. When Embiid was unloading on Towns on Instagram, one of the things he said was, “That’s why you’ve been treated like a b- – you know who.” I will not start your business (but) I have the facts about you. ”

It seemed like Embiid was saying that Butler had told him all about the cities, and most people would agree that he was referring to rumors about his girlfriend.
Embiid and Towns have long had problems with each other, largely because of their status as great men of the game. In December 2017, Embiid took over social media after winning a victory against the Towns Timberwolves, which resulted in a response from Towns. Then, when the teams met again last March, Embiid took another shot in Towns. If Embiid was alluding to rumors about the girlfriend, the rivalry was getting a little more personal.
