Major League Baseball players were left shaken up after a child was taken to hospital after accidentally being struck by a foul ball during a game in Texas. Before every game, teams warn fans of balls or bats coming into the stands.
“As soon as I hit it, the first person I locked eyes on was her”, Almora said about the little girl.
In a photo captured after the incident, you can see the young girl in tears, but alert, being held by a man believed to be her father.
“The young fan that was struck by a foul ball during (Wednesday’s) game was taken to the hospital”, the statement read.
Officials have not yet provided a public update on the little girl’s condition, but nearby fans who witnessed the incident first-hand say the early signs are positive.
“Right now, I’m just praying and I’m speechless”, Almora Jr said, according to ESPN.
In a warm-hearted twist to the story, Passan also reported that Almora hopes to form a relationship with the girl and her family for the rest of his life.
Cameras showed Almora embracing with a security guard near where the girl was hit between innings, crying on her shoulder.
“It’s good he let it out”, Heyward said of that moment. “That’s hard to deal with”.
