"Captain Marvel" Is Out Of This World, With An Inspirational Brie Larson

But that wait is finally over.

Marvel Studios' first film of 2019 Captain Marvel is all set to release on March 8 and Marvel Cinematic Universe fans obviously can not keep calm. If anything, once she superpowers up as the film goes along, and we see less of Larsen's face and more of Captain Marvel's CGI costume, we miss the person we were locked onto all along; this is a movie in which the hero's journey is less about saving the world than discovering her own power and wielding it (though the saving of the world is nice, too). Well, got a spoiler-free review for you.

Of the reviews, 24 are considered positive, 14 are mixed and 1 is negative, so we see the 66 is a lot different than how the 91% score looks at Rotten Tomatoes. After watching the film, there is no doubt in my mind that there is anyone else that encompasses everything that Carol Danvers is and what she represents to comic book fans everywhere. Although she's not the first cocky Marvel superhero, she's the first one with an attitude that feels earned.

So, where does Captain Marvel fit into the rankings?

The directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, known for such Sundance hits as "Half Nelson" and "Mississippi Grind", bring a pleasantly offbeat sensibility to the big-budget action heroics. But the big surprise to me was just how amusing he is.

Be sure to check out Captain Marvel, in theaters everywhere this weekend! It's a method that both works and doesn't, so it's a bit of a double-edged sword.

Warriors plan to sign Bogut
He has career averages of 9.7 points on.535 shooting, 8.7 boards and 1.6 blocks over 28.4 minutes a night. Bogut played the role of an interior intimidator, providing a formidable last line of defense.

No. 3 Duke storms past Miami
The Blue Devils' final home game of the season is Tuesday night against Wake Forest (11-16, 4-11 ACC). Anthony Lawrence II tallied 14 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Korea’s Park storms past field to win Women’s World Championship
Not that Park needed any advice as she stayed eerily calm and demonstrated a steely nerve when the pressure was on. Park has traditionally had a slow start to the new season.

John Campea states, "An important Marvel movie that connects a lot of dots the MCU has generated over 20+ films". Because they wanted to sideswipe Brie Larson and her suspected stance as a so-called "social justice warrior".

On top of this, Captain Marvel is the female-driven Marvel film that we've been waiting for. The rest of the cast includes Annette Bening, Gemma Chan, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, Djimon Hounsou, Lashana Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn, Lee Pace, Rune Temte, and more. She is told at least 10 times in the first 10 minutes of the film that she needs to control her emotions, mostly by Law. But the film's major scene stealers?

CAT! CAT! I can't write about Captain Marvel and not mention Goose. But her attempts to protect the planet from invasion get interrupted when S.H.I.E.L.D. We also get to see more of Ben Mendelsohn's Skrull leader, Talos. Carol spends much of the running time missing a piece of her identity - even her own name. He's paired well with Larson and they have a great buddy-cop relationship with each other. Maybe I'm just upset because there wasn't any Third Eye Blind on the soundtrack. Undeniably, though, Marvel producer Kevin Feige has figured out how to inject some idiosyncrasy and personality into most of his products, especially when stacked up against the leaden DC Comics line.

As a superheroine, she's never been my favorite, and I find most adaptations of her struggle with allowing her to be an empowered feminist character while also attempting to make men feel comfortable with her. Do you think this bodes well for Disney's Captain Marvel?

As has become the Marvel Cinematic Universe's trademark, Captain Marvel has taken the core elements of the comic book story - the warrior who has been told "no" so many times that she nearly believes it, the cosmic hero who overcomes betrayal to find her true self - and modified it to fit in with contemporary storytelling techniques (there are some elements of comic book Carol's backstory best left confined to the dustiest of corners). Throw on your best '90s attire, grab some popcorn and strap in.
