Stranded Oregon man survived on taco sauce packets for 5 days

Taylor, 36, who had been missing since last Sunday, told authorities that he wanted to take his Toyota 4Runner for an off-road spin near Sunriver in central Oregon.

On Friday, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office in OR reported that a snowmobiler rescued Jeremy Taylor and his dog Ally.

It turns out, Taylor and his dog Allie had gone off-roading on Forest Service Road 40 near Wake Butte, west of Sunriver, where his vehicle got stuck in the snow.

But he turned back when the snow became too deep for his Australian shepherd and carried her back to the auto.

Over the next few days after initially getting stuck, Taylor told authorities he stayed warm by "periodically starting his vehicle and used a few taco sauce packets he had as food", the sheriff's office said.

Taylor, an avid outdoorsman who loves to go off-roading, was last seen getting gas on February 24 in Sunriver. "After five days, in that kind of weather, who survives that?"

"He's been outdoors. He's familiar with his area", the mother said.

A snowmobiler spotted Taylor on Friday and called 911. "Thank you, everyone. I'm safe; my Ally dog is safe".

"Thank you everyone, I'm safe my Ally dog is safe", he later posted on Facebook, according to USA Today. I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, lets [sic] never do that again.

Both Taylor and his pooch were unharmed when rescuers found them days later, but obviously quite hungry.

Furthermore, the duo ate leftover Taco Bell hot sauce packets as that was the only thing available to them at the time.
