Kevin Hart Says He Won't Host Oscars, Is "Over It"

Kevin Hart Says He Won't Host Oscars, Is

"I shouldn't have to prove the levels of love that I'm capable of giving".

Kevin Hart might have been a perfectly good host for the Oscars, before circumstances - in the form of old tweets - intervened.

"The Oscars are poised to embark on one of the most radical reinventions in the awards show's long history", reports Variety.

He said: "I'm done with it, it gets no more energy from me and that's why I said it's the last time I'm addressing this".

That was the opening of the show! "I understand you", he continued, adding that he hopes the LGBTQ community can forgive him and accept he's a different person from the one who sent those tweets nearly a decade ago.

Hart's "GMA" interview Wednesday capped off a roller coaster few weeks, which date back to when he was announced as the host for the Oscars on December 4. "It's a choice that I've personally made to say I'm not addressing it anymore". Tuesday, the Philadelphia-born superstar took to his SiriusXM radio show Straight from the Hart to address the situation again. "I'm literally, I'm over that, I'm over the moment".

Worse still, members of the Academy apparently have no contrition for how they handled the Kevin Hart fiasco.

He apologized on Ellen DeGeneres's television program.

Later, he appeared on Ellen where both he and she called for viewers to embrace growth and change. "But his sit-down with DeGeneres, a sympathetic friend, backfired when he was made out to be the victim of internet trolls and "haters" rather than the perpetrator of hateful remarks".

The outlet reported that, as of this writing, neither producers nor the Academy have reached out to one single host to step into Hart's shoes.

When Strahan asked Hart how he's changed since the controversy, Hart replied, "I have explained how I've evolved, which makes me say I'm over it". A rep for DeGeneres had no comment.

"I really had to dive into the whole thing, even the tweets", Hart explained.

Hart later issued an emotional apology to the LGBTQ community for his past behavior and hurtful comments, acknowledging that he was in the wrong and promising to work towards being more accepting and welcoming of criticism in the future. When host Michael Strahan asked if he would return to host the Oscars if asked, the comedian responded with a strong denial.
