Fly Jamaica probes passenger's death following crash-landing

A spokesperson for Global Affairs said the agency was providing consular assistance to the family, and noted that officials are in touch with local authorities to gather more information.

Kalloo was among 128 people aboard Fly Jamaica Flight OJ256 when it overshot the runway at Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Georgetown on November 9.

"Whilst Mrs. Kalloo is not recorded as having been treated in hospital for any injuries as a result of the accident, we are investigating the position further and lending all possible assistance and support to Mrs Kalloo's relatives as they come to terms with their loss", the airline said in a statement provided to CTV News Toronto. The family member did not wish to provide any further statement. Airline spokesman Carl Bowen confirmed to the Associated Press at the time that the plane took off and returned after less than 20 mins.

During landing, several of the plane's tires blew out and its right engine became dislodged from its wing.

Death of elderly woman linked to Fly Jamaica incident

Some passengers who were aboard the Fly Jamaica plane that crash landed at the CJIA, Timehri two Fridays ago arrived back in Toronto on Friday with gruelling tales and harsh criticism for the airline, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

Her daughter reportedly told Stabroek News, a newspaper in Guyana, that Kalloo was behaving oddly in the days that followed, though she had no obvious physical malady. The newspaper reported that she was admitted to the hospital on Monday, where her family was told she had suffered a head injury.

According to the reports, Fly Jamaica is apparently investigating but claims there is no evidence to suggest her death was related to the incident. The Brampton resident had been in Guyana visiting her son and grandchildren.
