Suns fire general manager McDonough

The Suns fired general manager Ryan McDonough on Monday, bringing an abrupt end to his five-year run with the team.

In the interim, general manager duties will be handled by Vice President of Basketball Operations James Jones and Assistant General Manager Trevor Bukstein.

McDonough's departure is surprising given the timing - the Suns' season opener is on October 17 - but Nets forward Jared Dudley, who played in Phoenix from 2008-13 and 2016-18, supported the shift of power from McDonough to vice president of basketball operations James Jones.

Fox names former Trump aide Hope Hicks as its new communications director
She left the White House in April, after rising to prominence as a close Trump adviser during the 2016 presidential campaign. She will be based in Los Angeles, according to an announcement by Viet Dinh , the company's chief legal and policy officer.

"After much thought and a long evaluation of our basketball operations, I have chose to relieve Ryan McDonough of his duties as general manager of the Phoenix Suns", said Suns Managing Partner, Robert Sarver.

But with the addition of Ayton and some other offseason moves, McDonough said at the team's media day that those days were over and the goal was to make the Suns "the most improved team" in the National Basketball Association. That McDonough has been fired isn't a surprise, although Suns owner Robert Sarver extended McDonough's contract through the 2019-20 season in 2017.

This season, Igor Kokoskov will take over the coaching duties and will look to improve on last year's 21-61 record.
