John Terry rejects £3m a year Spartak Moscow switch

The former Blues defender is believed to want to be Chelsea manager one day, and the Mirror revealed earlier in 2018 that Terry feels if he were in the coaching setup at his former club, his chances of one day being in the top job would be enhanced.

Terry was briefly linked with a move to Derby when Lampard was announced as their new boss and the opportunity to work alongside two former Chelsea team-mates could be too good to turn down.

It had appeared to be a two-horse race between Spartak Moscow and Villa to sign Terry.

Terry underwent a medical with the Russian side ahead of a move which would have seen him earn £3m a year, but he could not agree personal terms and has decided against joining Massimo Carrera's side.
