Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse Says He 'Regularly' Considers Leaving the GOP

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) said Sunday on CNN that he considers himself an "independent conservative who caucuses with the Republicans". Sasse told CNN's "State of the Union".

"Why am I flying away from Nebraska to go to DC this week?"

Sasse said he would like both major parties "to be healthier and be competing to be better than the other one amongst a bunch of good ideas, instead of trying to be less bad than the other one".

"What you'd like is the president to not worry so much about the short-term of staffing, but the long-term of vision-casting for America", he said.

Sen. Ben Sasse reiterated on Sunday that he frequently considers leaving the Republican Party and is exhausted of the partisan gridlock inside the Washington Beltway. "These parties are really pretty content to do 24-hour news cycle screaming at each other".

Sasse also complained last week that legitimate feminist concerns about President Trump's Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh amounted to "hysteria," and said that it was unsafe for political commentators to refer to Supreme Court justices as though they are "wearing red and blue jerseys".

I have no doubts that, by sending a message to a United player, he was not just simply exhibiting good sportsmanship. We did it a couple of times but at the moment we're still finding our feet in playing out from those areas.

Interestingly, the pay gains are not especially strong in areas where employers have been complaining about labor shortages. The Trump administration has imposed tariffs on imported steel and aluminum as well as on $50 billion of goods from China.

Fortnite: Week 9 Secret Road Trip Banner Location (Season 5)
You'll want to climb on top of the hills/mountains on the west around this area to find another of the stone heads sat on top. It sounds simple enough, but there are only seven heads on the map, and they are spread rather far apart.

That's what Nebraska's Ben Sasse (sas) writes on Twitter in response to a commenter who said she believed changing her Democratic affiliation to "no-party" would be "part of the solution".

"I'm one of about eight people in the U.S. Senate who's never been a politician before and I think I've been saying for about three years that I consider myself an independent conservative who caucuses with the Republicans", he said.

The Nebraska senator's comment comes after he tweeted last week that he "regularly" thinks about switching to become an independent.

He responded, "yep - regularly consider it".

The proudly ultra-conservative Sasse will continue to be indistinguishable from nearly every other Republican lawmaker when it comes to issues, policy, and voting for the vast majority of President Trump's agenda - so the letter following his name is irrelevant, and his complaints about tribalism are largely academic. "Right now it feels like there's just way too much drama every day and that distracts us from the longer term stuff we should be focused on together". But this party used to be for some pretty definable stuff. "I'd love to see the party of Lincoln and Regan get back to its roots".
