Earl Thomas Reports To Seahawks, Will Play Out Final Year Of Contract

With just one day before the National Football League regular season opens up, Thomas remains a member of the Seattle Seahawks (though only by roster designation at this point) and the Cowboys could use a jolt in their secondary.

As ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed earlier in the day Wednesday, the Cowboys offered a second-round pick for Thomas and then opted to back out when it was declined.

With Thomas saying a couple of times that he won't return to the Seahawks without a contract extension and a lack of signs that a contract extension is something the team is interested in extending his way, no end to the Thomas saga appears to be in sight.

"Offer me an extension". "I've never let me teammates, city or fans down as long as I've lived and don't plan on starting this weekend".

The Seahawks reportedly called the Cowboys on draft night, asking for the 50th pick alone in exchange for Thomas, a six-time Pro Bowler. Cowboys officials said during training camp that they hadn't really had any talks with the Seahawks since the draft.

Seattle's demand seems to have increased in the months since.

Has free safety Earl Thomas' holdout has finally come to an end?

Seattle wasn't interested - the team wanted more.

Wednesday's news of Thomas reporting to his current team might well lead to both sides considering it a stalemate.

Xavier Woods is expected to miss the season opener against the Carolina Panthers due to a hamstring injury. The Cowboys were content to stay put while Thomas refused to take part in Seattle's offseason program.

"I worked my whole life for this...., " wrote Thomas. Thomas' reaction to the lack of a resolution was clear in his post: "The disrespect has been noted and will not be forgotten".
