Amazon India Launches Website In Hindi For Android Users, Targets Smaller Cities

Hindi version of the Amazon shopping mobile website and the mobile app comes in the time when the festive season in India is about to begin, especially in Diwali.

Amazon India on Tuesday unveiled its shopping app in Hindi titled amazon.in to enable shoppers to enjoy the ease and convenience of shopping experience in their language.

The global e-commerce giant plans to reach out to the next 100 million customers who might be more comfortable with Hindi than with English. "We are starting with Hindi and as we learn (from) the experience and become rock-solid, we would be in position to understand the other languages", said Kishore Thota, director (customer experience and marketing) at Amazon India.

Amazon has not completely ditched English.

The company has also signed up about 14,000 retail locations across India for its Amazon Easy program, in which a local shopkeeper helps customers place Amazon orders and receive packages, and then delivers them.
