Chiefs come out of loss to Bears injury

Chiefs: Close the preseason Thursday by hosting the Green Bay Packers. Here are the notes and observations of the day.

In the locker room, however, the Bears' starters are unified in their support of the decision and the decisiveness Nagy had in making it. The high-octane Chiefs starting offense was limited to 210 yards and 10 total points in 2-plus quarters by Vic Fangio's reserves. Nagy said, per the Bears' official website. I do not expect to roll into this thing with five years' worth of this offense.

"For me, I thought today was a good day as far as taking what was there and at the same time attacking the defense", Mahomes said.

Those questions were aplenty in the Bears' locker room on Monday following one of the more bold and perhaps slightly controversial decisions of Matt Nagy's young tenure with the team last weekend. Trubisky is a perfectionist.

"It's a process", Trubisky said. We're optimistic about how this season is going to turn out.

How not playing on Saturday impacts the Bears' readiness for September 9's curtain-lifting trip to Green Bay remains to be seen, though players didn't believe sitting out will have a negative impact. "... At the end of the day, like I said before, coach Nagy has the best interests for us players and this team".

All quarterbacks and the offenses they run go through peaks and valleys in a season with stretches of difficulty, but the good ones respond with stretches of excellence. We've gone back and looked and seen (that) there's been some good players that have played with clubs. He commended Nagy for going with his instincts despite knowing criticism was sure to follow.

"The plan is always to go out there and execute, to hit the ground running", Amos said.

"Yeah, it's a good battle between those two guys, and I have a lot of trust in (offensive line coach) Harry (Hiestand) and what he believes and where he's at". I argue that it is a smart decision, not only to avoid injury but also due to the fact that 20-30 extra snaps will not impact these players' development.

Considering Chicago took part in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game back on August 2, the Bears have held the most practices of any team.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has 12 National Football League starts and none in this offense, so it's easy to see how another preseason effort would benefit timing on his passes. But you've got to be available to do that.

That's not to say all of the guys who didn't play on Saturday didn't want to play.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, part of the reason for Smith's holdout was language in his contract that would allow the team to reclaim guaranteed money if the linebacker is suspended under the NFL's new helmet-contact rules.

On fourth-and-goal from the Browns' 4, Trubisky was sacked by linebacker B.J Bello and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi. What's best for the Bears?

"Against Buffalo, we're probably going to end up keeping him out and not playing him", the coach said.

Much of the focus will be on who doesn't play. "Every violent term you can think of, right?" The Bears' roster cut to 53 players this Saturday will take into account the health at the linebacker position. OK, to our knowledge, there are absolutely no ill feelings from Daniel toward his former team.
