Rejoice Mac mini pro fans: Apple hasn't forgotten you

Apple Inc. will release a new low-priced laptop and a professional-focused upgrade to the Mac mini desktop later this year, ending a drought of Mac computers that has limited sales of the company's longest-running line of devices, according to people familiar with the plans.

Bloomberg says this device "will be geared towards consumers looking for a cheaper Apple computer, but also schools that often buy laptops in bulk". But later this year, Apple plans to launch anew MacBook Air with an improved design which includes the company's Retina displays, and smaller bezels.

Apple's least expensive Mac, the Mac mini, will finally get an update later this year.

That includes a brand new MacBook Air, the company's laptop lineup that hasn't seen a proper refresh in quite some time. Early reports suggest it could start at $1,200. In short, it is going to be targeted to those who are not willing to splurge a massive amount of cash on a MacBook Pro and want something with more kick than the 12-inch MacBook.

He said, "The worst is over from a Tesla operational standpoint, but from a personal pain standpoint, the worst is yet to come". Rather, Musk explained he was led to believe that "no other decision makers were needed and that they were eager to proceed".

The company still sells the four-year-old Mac Mini for $499 (£479, AU$749) without a keyboard, mouse, or screen.

But Quanta's shipments are expected to also rise above 10 million units in the fourth quarter thanks to orders for Apple's new cheap notebooks.

Apple releases its new Mac models in October, and it looks like this year is going to be a pretty exciting one. If you are an Apple fan, there's a ton of things to be hyped about: three new iPhones, new Apple Watches, new iPad Pros, and now the new Macs. Quanta and Hon Hai Precision will be responsible for manufacturing the upcoming MacBook Air model, but it has not been detailed which partner has been sourced to develop the enclosure of the Mac mini. Bloomberg also says that Apple is coming out with an updated Mac Mini aimed at more pro users. That means developers, those wanting a home media server, or those running a server farm. For this year's model, Apple is focusing primarily on these pro users, and new storage and processor options are likely to make it more expensive than previous versions, the people said.

It's embarrassing Apple continues to sell the outdated Mac mini.
