‘English Vinglish’ Actor Sujata Kumar Succumbs to Cancer

Senior actress Sujata Kumar passed away last night due to cancer.

Previously, Sujata was diagnosed with fourth degree metastatic cancer (metastatis) after her sister tweeted about Sujata's chronic illness when she was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in India.

"Her condition worsened day before yesterday at the hospital", the insider said.

On August 18, Suchitra had urged her fans to pray for her sister.

Suchitra wrote about the grief of the "unimaginable void" left by the loss as she "moved to a better place" and that 'life can never be the same'.

In another tweet, which she later deleted, Krishnamoorthi said the funeral will take place at the Juhu crematorium in Vile Parle today. Apart from Gauri Shinde's film, she had also starrer in Aanand L Rai's 'Raanjhanaa' and Anil Kapoor's television series '24'.

A few months back, Sujata was invited at the TEDx talks where she spoke on "How to filter emotional pollutants from your life", opening up on her childhood in a broken family, her own marriage, and divorce and her eventual fight with cancer.
