A massive 8.2 magnitude natural disaster struck the island nation of Fiji in the Pacific Ocean, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake happened around 347.7 miles (560km) below the earth's surface - and experts say if it had happened close to the surface it would have caused catastrophic damage.

A magnitude 3.2 natural disaster struck near the Big Bear area on Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at a depth of 570km (354 miles), too deep to cause a tsunami.
