New central contracts guarantee earnings boost for Pakistan players

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Monday demoted veteran cricketer Mohammad Hafeez on its list of centrally contracted players and promoted batsman Babar Azam as it handed new one-year deals to its pool of national players, DawnNewsTV reported. The new contracts have witnessed an increase in the monthly remuneration and the match fees for the cricketers. Out of favour Wahab Riaz is in C category - which has nine players - along with Junaid Khan, who marked his return to ODI cricket last month, and Haris Sohail. Accordingly, for the players in the "A" category will receive Rs 1 Million while for the ones in "B" category will be paid Rs 0.7 Million according to a report in ProPakistani.

The fresh deals, which followed a fresh three-year agreement between the board and the players', see the playing staff's monthly remuneration go up between 25-30 per cent.

A new category, "E", has been added to the central contracts to recognize performers on the domestic circuit and to encourage the continuing development of emerging cricketers from the junior level.
