Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp have been engaged for almost a year, but a false report in this week’s tabloids claims that the couple split up. Gossip Cop investigated this story and we The couple is still very united
The National Enquirer and its sister online publication, RadarOnline broadcast stories almost identical, alleging that the long-standing couple has disassociated, citing many inaccurate reasons for which it is supposed to occur. The couple began dating in 2010, and then separated five years later late, and then reunited in 2017. The actress and the musician were fired last year But, according to the two media, the engagement was extinguished after a “mass eruption” that ended when Ryan ordered Mellencamp to “take the highway”.
These reports, however, are based on the old reasons why Ryan and Mellencamp separated for the first time in 2015. At the time, the couple explained that the distance was the main reason for the split. Ryan lives in New York and Mellencamp, in a small town in Indiana, near Bloomington. The couple has visibly overcome this hurdle in recent years and it is unlikely that Mellencamp would have proposed it had not solved the problem of distance. Yet, according to false stories, that was part of the problem.
The two articles become much more vicious from there. The two falsely accuse Mellencamp of being “panicked” by Ryan’s plastic surgery and upset by the “anorexic look” of the actress. The articles even claim that Mellencamp “required” Ryan to gain weight. Both reports also claim that Ryan did not like Mellencamp’s “shabby” appearance and bought him a new wardrobe. It is absurd to think that it took nine years to solve all these superficial and stupid problems. Nevertheless, a spokesman for Mellencamp denies that the couple has separated. Ryan even recently told People that “this commitment is a state of grace.”
This is not the first time Enquirer ] and RadarOnline have published the same wrong story about the couple. In June 2018, the two media published almost identical articles claiming that Tom Hanks would drive Ryan in the alley during his marriage to Mellencamp. This story posed many problems, as reported Gossip Cop by demystifying it at a given moment. In particular, no wedding was planned, although outlets claimed it was happening this fall. The couple was not even engaged at the time of the publication of this information. No tabloid has a clue about what’s going on with the couple.
