Pregnant Teen Killed and Baby Cut Out of Womb

She was willing to buy, trade or accept a donation.

Ochoa-Lopez, 19, went missing for three weeks before her body was found. In Ochoa-Lopez's case, police and family members say she was killed after responding to a Facebook offer of free baby clothes.

The boy remained hospitalized Friday in grave condition and was not expected to survive, police said.

Cecilia Garcia, a spokeswoman for the family, said that Ochoa-Lopez was possibly lured on Facebook by a woman who told her she was giving away baby clothes, The Washington Post reported.

"Words really can not express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are", Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a news conference.

Police did not connect Ochoa-Lopez's disappearance and the 911 call about the baby until May 7, when friends of the teen directed detectives to her social media account, which showed she had communicated with Clarisa Figueroa. Apparently Ochoa-Lopez had purchased baby items from the suspects in the past, police said.

"We determined that Clarisa (Figueroa) was not the mother through DNA", Deenihan said.

In a bond court document, prosecutors say Desiree Figueroa was surprised to hear her mother say she was pregnant in October, 2018, since Clarisa's fallopian tubes had been tied. She said that correlates to a time in which hospitals boosted their security, significantly decreasing the number of newborns stolen from maternity wards or neo-natal units.

Her mother said at the time the family believed she had been kidnapped.

Her father, Arnulfo Ochoa, said on Thursday that relatives were grateful to have found her and now want justice.

The baby was taken to a hospital that day along with a woman who claimed to be the mother, according to fire department spokesman Larry Langford.

Clarisa Figueroa connected with Ochoa-Lopez on March 5 via a Facebook page for pregnant women. Ochoa-Lopez's vehicle was found near the home.

Police said Ms Ochoa-Lopez had met Clarisa Figueroa previously and had conducted prior exchanges of baby clothes. Suspicious, detectives subpoenaed hospital records and began to collect DNA samples from the baby, his biological father and Clarisa Figueroa.

On Tuesday, armed with a search warrant, detectives discovered bleach and cleaning solutions in the home, along with evidence of burned clothing and blood on the floors of the living room, bathroom and a hallway, according to Deenihan. While Desiree Figueroa distracted the teen with a photo album, the elder Figueroa wrapped a cable around the teen's neck from behind, Murphy said.

Figueroa and her daughter, 24-year-old Desiree Figueroa, were ordered held without bond on murder charges Friday.

The two women have been charged with one felony count of first-degree murder and one felony count of aggravated battery of a child less than 13 years old, police said.

Prosecutors say Clarisa Figueroa's adult son died past year of natural causes.

"The family says surveillance video at the school shows Uriostegui walking off campus alone at 3:06 p.m. and appeared to be texting on her phone", according to the MPCN.

Her body was found three weeks later on 15 May.

"If you consider an extremely rare event of the millions of women a year who are pregnant, there would be no way as individual people that we could take this risk to zero", she said.

"We lived together for four years and now I see her with her eyes closed", Yovany Lopez, standing outside the morgue in tears, told CNN affiliate WGBO. She did nothing to them.

"She didn't deserve it because she was a smart woman, a good student. How could they do this knowing she has family and a 3-year-old son?"

People magazine reported that the baby, who Ochoa-Lopez had meant to name Yavani Yadiel Lopez, has no brain function. "This can't stay like this".

A file photo shows 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez. She was supposed to pick up her 3-year-old from day care later but never showed up, authorities said.

On Thursday, Supt Johnson expressed his condolences to Ms Ochoa-Lopez's family in the wake of her "brutal" murder.
