A record 536 players from 20 overseas countries and the West Indies are available to be picked by the six Hero CPL teams. Also in the mix is rising Pakistan batting star Imam-ul-Haq, the nephew of Pakistan great Inzamam ul Haq.

The players' draft for CPL 2019 was announced on Thursday with Irfan being the only Indian in the list.

Jofra Archer and Alex Hales are amongst 41 English-qualified players to put themselves forward for this year's Caribbean Premier League.

If Irfan does manage to find a buyer in the auctions then he will also become the first Indian cricketer to play in a major overseas T20 league. "We expect that this year's tournament will be no different", said CPL Tournament Operations Director Michael Hall.

The allrounder's cricket career as a player is very much off the track now. Trinbago Knight Riders won the previous edition of the CPL in 2018.This year's CPL will be held from September 4 to October 12. He averages 60 from 27 One-Day Internationals and though he has played just one T20 International, he has made his mark in 43 T20s with an average of 35.

Franchises will be able to retain or acquire up to six players prior to the May 22 draft. Each team must retain at least three West Indies players, and no more than four; no more than one overseas player; a Marquee Player whether retained or acquired; and an ICC Americas Player, whether retained or acquired. This means that the board may take action against the Indian cricketer for proceeding forward without attaining clearances.

The Saint Lucia Stars franchise has made no announcements regarding the Draft or the team composition for the upcoming season.

All retentions will be announced during the live broadcast of the player draft which will be broadcast on the Hero CPL social media channels from 2 p.m. GMT on May 22.
