‘Black Mirror’ Drops First Season 5 Trailer, Starring Miley Cyrus & Anthony Mackie

Netflix's annual delivery of existential dread will arrive in just three weeks: Black Mirror's fifth season is scheduled to drop on Wednesday, June 5, TVLine has learned.

The preview also reveals a first look at Miley Cyrus' role in the series, and it appears to be pretty meta, as she's styled like a pop music performer who must entertain the masses and pose in a bathtub full of Pepto-Bismol for some reason.

Earlier this year, Black Mirror entered the choose-your-own-adventure space via Bandersnatch, an interactive episode of the show that allows viewers to make decisions for protagonist Stefan Butler. "You should've seen it coming", they wrote on Twitter. And then there's that sequence right at the end, which promises us a Mortal Kombat-esque video game done through the space of immersive virtual reality.

The surprise trailer was first teased by the Black Mirror Twitter account, which shared a mysterious message at around 6AM EST.

Soon, the same might be true for US companies. "American companies must step up their efforts, or get left behind". It comes amid increasing scrutiny of Chinese telecom firms. "This is a single-party government".

The next set of dystopian stories from Charlie Brooker will hit the streaming service on June 5th, and will feature a cast including Sherlock's Andrew Scott, Avengers' Anthony Mackie, and Miley Cyrus.

Netflix also shared the new trailer for the season, and it looks insane!

While the trailer explores a nice amount of unexplored themes in terms of Black Mirror's dark history, it's primary focus seems to be the recurring and realistic elements of not only the overbearing power of technology but how it ultimately distracts and tempts us collectively as a society.

The 90-second trailer gives us a sneak peek of all the three stories and takes us through their perspective. As always, you can expect your views on technology, love, the world, and everything you know to be shifted by the upcoming season, which has built a reputation on presenting eerily relatable and tech-driven examples of how things could seriously go wrong in our lives.
