Ferrari Will Stop Supplying Engines To Maserati From 2021

CEO Louis Camilleri broke the news, and The Motley Fool posted a transcript of the whole call online. During the recent Ferrari Q1 earnings call the most significant revelation from the event was that Ferrari plans to stop supplying Maserati with engines.

The only places you could traditionally get a screaming Ferrari engine was to buy a Ferrari or a Maserati.

Despite that, Ferrari has continued to build V6 and V8 engines for use in Maserati models such as the Ghibli, Quattroporte, Levante, GranTurismo and GranCabrio models. Camilleri says that the change will allow Ferrari to move a lot of the labor that has been involved with engines to the vehicle side of the business.

Maserati has had the proverbial rug pulled out from under it, with Ferrari announcing it would no longer supply engines to its Italian cousin. Both of Maserati's current V-8s were designed by Ferrari, while its V-6 is an in-house design based loosely on the Chrysler Pentastar engine.
