Aston Martin boasts that the DBS Superleggera Volante's top speed of 211 miles per hour matches that of the coupe and makes it the fastest convertible ever to roll out of Gaydon.

"There is nothing on earth that compares to the roar of an Aston Martin V12 and I believe that the DBS Superleggera Volante provides one of the greatest sensory experiences in the automotive world", Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer enthsed.

Let's start with a Volante's defining feature: the roof. It is has eight layers of insulation materials and acoustically enhancing materials.

The roof compresses to a claimed class-leading height of 26cm in the boot, maximising available luggage space.

Aston Martin also claims that the folding roof mechanism is the most advanced soft-top the firm has ever produced, with eight layers of insulation and the ability to fully open from either inside the vehicle or externally via a remote, in just 14sec. The soft-top can be further personalised on the inside, with the addition of six Rokona headliners.

Speaking of options, the Volante is the first Aston Martin convertible to be offered with a twill carbon fiber finish on the windshield frame.

Behind the front wheels, the "curlicue" allows air to escape and flow smoothly along the car's flanks, while the double diffuser at the rear allows air to exit cleanly and neutralise lift as efficiently as possible. A revised iteration of the Aeroblade ll system continues to deliver additional downforce to the car's rear. Speaking of the latter, the DBS Superleggera Volante produces 390 lbs (177 kg) of downforce which is just 6.6 lbs (3 kg) less than the coupe. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which enables the auto to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and 0-100 miles per hour (161 km/h) in 6.7 seconds.

By comparison the coupe is 0.2 seconds quicker to 100km/h, but has the same top speed. Attaining 0-100kmph in just 3.6 seconds makes it just 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe and its top speed is 340kmph.

Powered by Aston Martin's own 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12, producing 715 bhp and 900 Nm of torque, the top speed of the DBS Superleggera Volante stands at 340 kmph.
