Jamie Lynn Spears blasts critics amidst Britney Spears' mental health treatment

Last week, former Extra producer Carlo De Santis tweeted a photo of himself with the singer, writing, "Remember that time @britneyspears' dad had me banned from ever working with her again because I didn't ask HIM for permission to [post] a photo she HERSELF consented to?"

Britney Spears' fans held a protest in Los Angeles demanding that the pop star be released from a treatment facility in response to online rumours that Spears is being held against her will.

According to Billboard, Spears checked herself into a 30-day program in March in the midst of her father Jamie Spears' ongoing health issues.

ET's Tanner Thomason was live at the protest to hear from the outspoken fans, who are blaming Spears' management for allegedly holding her in treatment - claims which have not been substantiated by any actual evidence.

When it comes to Britney Spears' loyal fans, they would do anything to show their support for her.

Spears' father, Jamie Spears, has held conservatorship over his daughter since 2008 when the singer was found mentally unfit to hire a lawyer as she was committed to the psychiatric ward and put on 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold.

Fans gathered outside the West Hollywood City Hall on Monday, with signs that said things like "Free Britney" and "Truth Will Set Her Free".

Throughout the past few weeks, sources have shared conflicting information about how the 37-year-old landed at the facility in the first place: some claimed that she had checked herself in voluntarily, while others have claimed that her father, Jamie Spears, had forced Britney to go in an effort to stabilize her meds.

It's unclear if Spears was just out for the holiday weekend, or if she has now completed her stint in treatment. "She's been in a conservatorship for over 10 years that we don't believe she should be in any longer and we're trying to spread awareness of it".

Sister Jamie Lynn Spears appeared to fire back at critics on social media early Tuesday. I have been here long before anyone else, and I'll be here long after. "So, anyone or anything that speaks to the contrary can GTFOH with all the comments about what you don't understand".

In a reply, Spears adds, "Don't come for me or the ones I love anymore".
