Down 0-19 at half-time, South Africa engineered a magical comeback to win 20-19 in what will be remembered as a final for the ages.

At least Fiji managed to close the gap between them and leaders United States in the overall World Rugby Sevens standings, with two legs left in the series (London and Paris).

Later on Sunday, the South Africans will take on the U.S. in a semifinal match at 9:50am, while with the other last-four encounter will be contested between Fiji and England.

Connor Braid, Phil Berna, Justin Douglas, Jake Thiel and Nathan Hirayama scored tries for Canada in the win over Japan.

A South African victory seemed impossible Sunday after a first half in which Fiji ran riot, exploiting handling errors and poor tackling to score three brilliant tries.
