Capitals vs. Hurricanes Game 2

Capitals vs. Hurricanes Game 2

The Capitals have two sure-fire Hall of Famers in Nicklas Backstrom and captain Alex Ovechkin.

The Hurricanes began the game poorly. "Obviously both PK and power play weren't good enough".

Svechnikov scored both of the Hurricanes' (0-1) goals Thursday, and forward Lucas Wallmark assisted on both of them.

In Nashville, Craig Smith scored five minutes into overtime to give Nashville the victory over Dallas, tying the first-round Western Conference series 1-1. Petr Mrazak surrendered three goals on 17 shots in the losing effort. Backstrom just needd one more for the big 100.

Carolina fell down by three in the first when the Caps struck three times - twice on the power play - in a span of just over eight minutes. In fact, he almost scored in the same spot on the next power play, before Alex Ovechkin got a goal.

His timing was ideal on Saturday as Evgeny Kuznetsov found him from behind the cage coming off the bench, and Orpik got an opening because the Carolina player defending him didn't have a stick. Backstrom took the pass, which made its way through traffic, and buried it from right in front. The video flashed back on moments from various points of the players' and coaches' careers. But the team settled in the second period, and by the time the third rolled around, Mrazek was back in the groove. The power play finished 12th in the National Hockey League in the 2018-19 regular season with a 20.8 power play percentage.

Ben Simmons: 'If You're Going to Boo, Then Stay on That Side'
Team-mate Joel Embiid was reluctant to criticise the fanbase but says he can understand why some players would take exception. But they needed someone to step up and be the focal point of the offense, and D'Angelo Russell was more than happy to comply.

Google faces surge in police requests for mobile location data
Former Google employee Brian McClendon told the Times that the method seemed to him to be like "a fishing expedition". Police admit these "geofence" warrants are exciting but caution they're no slam dunk, either.

Carolina outplayed Washington in Game 1, but were done in by a couple power play goals and a rough first period that can partly be chocked up to jitters for a franchise playing in its first postseason game in a decade. Svechnikov got the Hurricanes on board at 5:07 in the third.

But, aside from tightening up on the penalty kill, if the Hurricanes do not get consistent production from any combination of their top goal scorers, then unfortunately, the postseason will end as quickly as it started. First it was Jakub Vrana hooking Dougie Hamilton at 11:14 and T.J. Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen and Jordan Staal were a non-factor. Obviously they're the defending champs, they're a good team and they won past year for a reason and they know how to do it on that side. That was a really important part of the game. "I liked our first period; it's just unfortunate we got down three". "You can see what happened last night in a different game".

Want your voice heard? Wall, Beal and the Wizards hope to go in the right direction and someday have the success the Capitals are having. "If you're going to take away the puck from them, that's how you can shut down the other team".

Also check out Beal doing the Kuzy bird celly!

It looked as though the Capitals would roll toward a statement victory against an opponent lacking playoff experience, but the pesky Hurricanes turned up the heat.

The Hurricanes and Capitals will face off for game two Saturday at 3 p.m.at Capital One Arena.
