New Star Wars VR story invites you to step into Vader's castle

This sounds incredibly fun, especially with it being a VR game, you'll be right in the thick of it all, face to face with Darth Vader. Vader Immortal is set sometime between Episode III and Episode IV of the Star Wars film saga. Players will take on the role of a smuggler pulled out of hyperspace near Mustafar, where they come in conflict with the Dark Lord of the Sith himself.

Vader Immortal, the VR Star Wars series that Oculus and ILMxLAB are putting together with the help of Hellblade dev Ninja Theory, got a new trailer yesterday that teases its story and shows us our first proper glimpse of lightsaber combat.

The 3-part Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series by ILMxLAB is set to debut on Oculus later this Spring.

From a gameplay perspective, ILMxLAB is clear that this isn't just a simple VR movie - it's a fully interactive title, which the trailer showcases as players climb the side of the citadel and use tools. She also details the story mode of this upcoming VR game, including the recent cast announcements of Maya Rudolph as droid ZOE3, and Scott Lawrence as Darth Vader.

The game will be released later this year on the Oculus Quest headset and Oculus Rift.
