‘Deadwood’: HBO Movie Unveils First Teaser & Premiere Date

Almost 13 years after the hit Western series ended, HBO Films has released the first look at "Deadwood: The Movie".

Deadwood: The Movie premieres on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 8 p.m. ET on HBO.

"This town is a sanctuary", Swearengen intones in the trailer amid scenes of returning characters and acts of violence.

HBO's long-in-the-works Deadwood movie is finally reaching a debut, the network releasing the first official trailer and a premiere date. "Every man worth the name knows the value of being unreachable".

The movie will pick up about a decade after the show ended, with the characters reuniting in Deadwood to celebrate South Dakota's statehood in late 1889. The plot synopsis from HBO reads, "Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds reopened as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought". It stars returning actors Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker, Paula Malcolmson, Anna Gunn, Robin Weigert, and Gerald McRaney among others. There's also a new castmember played by Jade Pettyjohn (Destroyer). We'll just point out that though "Deadwood" ran only three seasons before what HBO abruptly pulled the plug, during its 2004-2006 tenure, the show was nominated for 28 Primetime Emmy Awards.

"Deadwood" creator David Milch has returned to write the television film, and Daniel Minahan will direct, after helming several episodes of the original series, "Game of Thrones" and "Six Feet Under".
