Miami Dolphins trade Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to trade quarterback Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans, as first reported by SportsTrust Advisors.

Tannehill, who will turn 31 in July, had been Miami's starter when healthy since 2012, when the Dolphins selected him with the eighth overall pick in the draft. According to a release from Tannehill's agency, the former Dolphins starter signed a one-year deal with the Titans. Tennessee will get a sixth round pick in 2019 along with the veteran QB. The Dolphins are receiving a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and a 2020 fourth-round pick.

The Dolphins made a decision to move on from Tannehill earlier this offseason and they've spent the last few weeks actively pursuing a trade.

He missed five games this past season due to a shoulder injury but was able to return for the team's final five games leading the club to a 7-9 record.

Patriots reportedly showing interest in free-agent WR Golden Tate
While his 35 catches for 532 yards were more than his 34 for 439 in 2017, Hogan played just nine games in 2017 and all 16 in 2018. The Lions traded Golden Tate at the trade deadline previous year because they didn't think they could re-sign him very easily.

Before the trade, Tannehill had two years remaining on his contract and would've been paid a base salary of $18.7 million in 2019 and $19.4 million in 2020.

In seven seasons in Miami, Tannehill started all 88 games he played and moved up to third in franchise history for career passing attempts (2911), completions (1829), passing yards (20,434) and touchdown passes (123).

The first game that comes to mind was the 2016 rout of the Houston Texans in Dan Campbell's first home game as Dolphins interim head coach. He's also battled injuries for nearly all of his career, and the Titans have struggled when Mariota has missed time. Both have had minimal playing time under center.
