Bangladesh cricket team escapes NZ mosque shooting

Members of the national cricket team of Bangladesh - in the country to play a series against New Zealand's national team - tweeted that they escaped from one of the mosques.

"I don't they're in a mental state to play cricket at all, " he told Fairfax Media. "All members of the Bangladesh Cricket Team in Christchurch, New Zealand are safely back in the hotel following the incident of shooting in the city".

One man who was inside the mosque told local media that there would normally be about 50 to 60 people worshipping inside the building.

Sources quoted by media said nine people were confirmed dead and as many as 30 were feared dead at the Masjid Al Noor on Deans Ave and at the Linwood Masjid on Linwood Ave.

"Clearly what has happened here is an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence", she said.
