Queen Latifah Says She Believes Jussie Smollett

The interview aired two days later on February 14 and by then the two Nigerian brothers - Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo - were in police custody and claimed that they were paid by the actor to stage the attack.

Robin Roberts is reflecting on her decision to interview Jussie Smollett.

Smollett has been charged with filing a false police report - and was last week slammed by Chicago cops for taking advantage: "Of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career".

Roberts was particularly skeptical about interviewing Smollett after he made comments in the days following the attack.

"Until I can see some definitive proof - which I haven't seen yet - then, you know, I gotta go with him until I see otherwise", she said. Had I had that information or what the brothers were alleging - heck, yeah, I would have asked that.

Because Smollett was considered a victim at the time of their interview, she carefully selected her questions.

Another said, "I would say probably not, because I feel like they jumped too quick to reporting before they had any conclusive evidence".

Many felt she went too easy on the embattled actor, who stands accused of faking the crime as part of an elaborate PR stunt because he was allegedly unhappy with his wages from the hit FOX music drama series.

"There's so many people who do not come forward because others are not believed".

Judge John Lyke, who imposed a $100,000 bail, said if the allegations against Smollett are true, they are "utterly outrageous". We are not homophobic and we are not anti-Trump.

"In due course, all the facts will reveal themselves, and at the end of the day, my clients are honest and credible", added the brothers' attorney, Schmidt.
