Legendary Fashion Designer Karl Lagerfeld Dies in Paris at 85

Lagerfeld's death was announced by French media early on Tuesday following rumors of the German fashion designer's declining health; Lagerfeld had not appeared at the finish of Chanel's show at Paris Fashion Week as he was "feeling exhausted". Viard's task will be to put her stamp on the revered fashion house while honouring the legacy of Coco Chanel and Lagerfeld. The cause of his death wasn't yet known.

"When people talk about the good old days, I say to people, 'It's not the days that are old, it's you that's old.' I hate the good old days".

One of the most iconic names in fashion has passed away, and we're taking a look back at Karl Lagerfeld's famous designs worn by celebrities like Kendall Jenner and many more.

"Karl Lagerfeld is an vast personality, someone out of the ordinary", French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner told RTL radio. The filmmaker Rodolphe Marconi, director of "Lagerfeld Confidential", once told me as much, having staged his first interview with Lagerfeld after knocking on the designer's bedroom door - they spoke for six hours.

Lagerfeld, who had been with Chanel since 1983, reportedly died on Tuesday morning (local time). "Don't ask me too many questions because it's very unusual to see your face wherever you turn", he added.

But in his latter years, he also gained fame as the adoptive parent of Choupette Lagerfeld, a Birman breed cat that came to stay one Christmas and never left.

"My problem as a child was that I was bored to death because I wanted to be a grown-up person", he said in a 2011 interview with the U.K.'s Independent newspaper.

"Fashion and culture have lost a major inspiration".

Lagerfeld, who also worked as a photographer and artist, was born in Hambury in 1933, the son of a businessman and his wife, and first moved to Paris as a schoolboy. He also designed collections for his own brand.
