Salesforce To Announce 1,500 Jobs For Dublin

The decision by the American multinational, which makes software products, is one of the most significant corporate expansions in Ireland in recent years by a single company.

Foreign investors backed by the state foreign investment agency created a total of 14,000 jobs in Ireland in 2018, up from just over 10,000 the previous year, IDA Ireland said earlier this month.

A United States software company has announced 1,500 new jobs for Dublin.

The new roles will be in Dublin and will expand the company's Irish workforce to nearly 3,000 over the next five years.

However, its new "Salesforce Tower" will only be six storeys high, unlike the similarly named "Salesforce Tower" buildings in San Francisco and London, which are those cities' tallest and third-tallest buildings, respectively.

The company's 1,400 existing employees and the new hires will begin moving into the new office, being developed by Ronan Group Real Estate and Colony Capital, in mid-2021.

The announcement was made before Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and almost 1,000 Salesforce employees at an event in the Convention Centre detailing the new plans.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar; Salesforce Ireland country leader Dr David Dempsey and Salesforce president and CFO Mark Hawkins at the Convention Centre.

A USA tech firm's confirmed that 1500 positions are to be created in the Docklands.

Salesforce already has more than 1,400 employees in Dublin, at its premises in Leopardstown, and more than 34,000 employees worldwide.

The firm has estimated that it will have revenues of up to $16bn this year. "However, this part of the city is also one of some very stark contrasts", he said.

"Many of our employees do already live in the city, so we will look at that when we do move into the building".
