Knicks, Kings Talking Trade Involving Enes Kanter, Zach Randolph

The New York Knicks and Sacremento Kings are discussing a potential swap of pending free agents Enes Kanter and Zach Randolph, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Kanter is on an expiring $18.6 million contract, while Randolph's is worth $11.6 million.

Wojnarowski adds that the two sides are not close yet and the Kings would like to trade away more of their expiring contracts in a deal. Kanter, however, stopped short of requesting a trade during a recent meeting with general manager Scott Perry.

The Kings were optimistic after deploying Cauley-Stein as a full-time center for the first time last season, seeing encouraging results and flashes of consistency, but wanted to see another season of it before committing to an extension of his rookie contract. The two-time All-Star played for the Knicks during the 2007-08 season and briefly during the 2008-09 season before being traded to the Clippers.

With the rumor out that the Kings could acquire Kanter before the trade deadline, would it be a good move by Vlade Divac and company if they were to pull the trigger?

But teams have reportedly inquired about Kanter, and the Knicks have listened.

Kanter, who has been averaging 14.4 points and 11 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game this season, was sent to the Knicks from the Thunder as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade in September 2017.

The Kings now are 10th in the Western Conference standings, and adding Kanter might bolster their prospects of qualifying for the playoffs.
