Jeff Bezos, Wife MacKenzie Bezos Divorcing After 25 Years

Jeff Bezos, 54, and MacKenzie Bezos, 48, had been married 25 years. Until five years ago, she dropped Bezos off at work in their Honda after they took their four kids to school. By July 1995, Amazon was operating out of a garage, with MacKenzie Bezos lending a hand, according to a review she posted on Amazon in 2013 panning "The Everything Store", a book about Bezos and the company written by Brad Stone.

Speaking at an event in Berlin last April, Ms Bezos said her support was instrumental when he founded Amazon.

MacKenzie's presence with the company faded in later years.

The couple has lived in Seattle since 1994.

In 2014, MacKenzie began the anti-bullying organization Bystander Revolution and serves as its executive director.

The World's richest man is putting $137 Billion on the line in divorce court, after previously claiming to be on a separation hiatus with his estranged wife MacKenzie, a renown American author in her own right.

Jeff Bezos tweeted the news Wednesday, saying in part, "We want to make people aware of a development in our lives". Bezos eclipsed Gates in October 2017. Washington is a community property state, generally requiring assets to be split equally. "It's not going to be made public".

In 2012, the couple donated US$2.5 million to a Washington state campaign to legalise same-sex marriage there. Arnall later sought to reopen the case but the Oklahoma Supreme Court dismissed the appeal in 2015.

One thing that could impact the division of assets, of course, is a prenuptial agreement.

Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos met in New York City, engaged after three months and married three months after that, according to Vogue.
