Family Confirms Body Found In Costa Rica Is Missing South Florida Woman

A lawyer for the complex where the Airbnb was located said witnesses saw Stefaniak get into a mystery auto at 5am on the Wednesday morning but family were quick to dismiss the witness account, saying the 36-year-old's flight was not till 1pm and she would not have left at that hour for the airport, located only half an hour away.

Burga told the BBC: "It's a awful wait, and every single minute that Costa Rican officials are not showing the body is just a tremendous amount of pain on the family".

"Since 2013, Villa Le Mas has operated a small vacation rental facility located at San Antonio, Escazu, Costa Rica". Villa Le Mas's attorney, Federico Jenkins, said the owners are co-operating with the authorities in the investigation.

A body found on a property in Costa Rica on Monday was reportedly confirmed to be that of Carla Stefaniak, a Florida woman who disappeared last week while on vacation for her birthday. Investigators would find the woman's body half-buried and covered with plastic bags about 300 yards away from the Airbnb's apartment complex.

A posting on the "Finding Carla" Facebook page set up by her family said Costa Rican authorities had finally allowed her father to view her body.

"Her mom is absolutely devastated". Instead, Carla Stefaniak vanished last week, never making it back home alive.

"We will never forget the joy she brought into our lives, how much she made us laugh. We are not", her family wrote on Facebook. "May god bless her soul".

Authorities believe it was Stefaniak but have not officially identified the remains, they have said. Pictured above is the AirBnb rental where she was staying. "The individual was stabbed to death with injuries to her neck and upper torso". We want them to be aware of their surroundings.

Security guard Bismark Espinosa Martinez, 32, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the Miami woman's death.

Blood was found inside the apartment. The only suspect is a guard of the hotel who gave a testimony found to contradict the facts found on videos.

An Uber driver who took Stefaniak sightseeing on the Tuesday and who was supposed to pick her up to go to the airport told the family he heard she left the rental home around 5am with her luggage and got into a mysterious auto, according to the Miami Herald.

Before midnight, almost 16 hours later, Stefaniak's family was allowed to see the body, relatives said.

The man arrested for the killing had worked at the apartment complex, the station said.

Carla Stefaniak had traveled to Costa Rica with her sister-in-law to celebrate her 36th birthday but her family began to worry when she failed to return to the United States on November 28 as planned.

She had dropped Burton at the airport and returned their rental auto before taking a 30-minute Uber to an Airbnb that she had checked in to for her final night.

In an interview with Fox 13 Tampa Bay, Burton said that Stefaniak had texted on the day she disappeared, saying that the Airbnb was "pretty sketchy".

"My daughter came to [Costa Rica] to be a tourist", her father, Carlos Caicedo, said in a press conference.

The owner of the Airbnb told relatives she was seen entering an Uber with her luggage around 5 a.m. Wednesday, but Uber records do not show a transaction. By the next day, she had failed to make her flight home.

Jaime headed to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on November 28 to pick up the birthday girl and take her out for a celebratory dinner.
