Failed Gubernatorial Candidate Stacey Abrams Doubles Down on Election Interference Claims

Republican Brian Kemp praised Democrat Stacey Abrams as a tough opponent and asked Georgia voters to unite behind him as the state's new governor Saturday, even as Abrams blamed Kemp for "gross mismanagement" of an election that she acknowledged she did not win.

In a rousing speech on Friday, Abrams announced she was ending her bid for Georgia governor.

In addition to Abrams attempting to become the first black female governor in US history, the race has drawn national attention because of progressive accusations that Kemp, the former Georgia secretary of state, engaged in systematic voter suppression. In 2016, when a religious freedom bill passed out of the state legislature, studios like The Walt Disney Co. and Marvel Entertainment threatened to boycott the state if the governor signed it. Nathan Deal, a Republican, vetoed it.

Abrams' campaign sparked huge energy across the state and she became a national Democratic star.

Fox News' Geraldo Rivera came to her defense, too. "To run in 2020 without corporate money, you need to start considering now". Just a few weeks ago, she won her midterm race to become the representative-elect for New York's 14th congressional district.

Commonly found in tropical waters, stingrays are a flattish, diamond-shaped fish that rarely attack humans. A man has died from heart attack after he was stung by a stingray while swimming at a Tasmanian beach.

Voting rights was a huge issue in the race especially after Kemp - in his role as secretary of state - launched an investigation into the state's Democratic Party, just two days before the election. Stacey Abrams fought brilliantly and hard - she will have a terrific political future! She also brought up what she said were "dramatic discrepancies" in the ballots, and called it "deliberate and intentional". "We got more votes than any governor in Georgia history, and I'm proud of that, our folks are proud of that, but now we're going to move forward".

Playing clips of Democrats alleging Abrams' seat was "stolen", Tapper asked if she too believed Kemp acted improperly and unethically. "Democracy failed in Georgia", she said.

Kemp struck a more conciliatory tone toward Abram, and defended his victory. "I am a lawyer by training and I am someone who's taken a Constitutional oath to uphold the law, but we know sometimes the law does not do what it should and something being legal does not make it right", Abrams said.
