Hospital offers help for Health Insurance Marketplace

Open Enrollment began Thursday in DE for 2019 health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Consumers have until December 15 to sign up through HealthCare.gov.

The agency also says anyone contacting Virginia residents regarding selling health insurance plans through an enrollment period outside of the open enrollment period is not selling an ACA-compliant policy. There will be fewer resources available to assist consumers with shopping for a plan, calculating their subsidies and enrolling them for coverage for their 2019 health plan. Now entering its sixth enrollment year, the marketplace is still an important route to affordable coverage for many in ME and across the country.

She added, "This year the president and Republicans in Congress have made it more hard for hardworking families to sign up for affordable health care due to their sabotage, including massive cuts for national outreach and enrollment efforts".

"Anyone with pre-existing conditions should really shop on the healthcare.gov marketplace", Hattemer says. "That includes residents who leverage the APTC, those who secure coverage through their employer through beWellnm for Small Business and Native American consumers who are adding a Qualified Health Plan, to their coverage option".

These reports indicate that 68,259 New Mexicans submitted an application, and 49,792 selected a plan.

This is also the first open-enrollment period under a Trump-administration change expanding access to cheaper plans that don't cover the panoply of benefits mandated by the ACA. These plans will have different coverage and payment options. Unlike Obamacare plans, they are medically underwritten, meaning that insurers scrutinize your health history and may charge you more based on a pre-existing condition, deny you coverage outright based on your health status, or issue a policy that excludes coverage for your pre-existing condition.

For consumers accustomed to getting help from navigators, the decrease will be stark.

The administration and Republicans in Congress say they are looking to assist those left behind by the ACA - people who don't get subsidies to help them buy coverage and are desperate for less expensive options - even if that means purchasing less robust coverage, Kaiser Health News reported.

That said, it's a good idea to have coverage if you can afford it. People who go uncovered risk catastrophic bills if they get a serious diagnosis or have a major accident. Another big change for this enrollment period is the drastic cut in funding for the insurance counselors known as navigators, both in Georgia and nationally.

Still, 10 or so Insure Georgia agents can not do the work more than 40 navigators used to do. (NASDAQ: HIIQ). This press release contains "forward-looking statements" within the meaning of the U.S. Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995.

Like past year, there are still (the same) four insurance providers in the marketplace: Ambetter, Sendero, Oscar and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Unlike during the Obama era, when high-wattage promotion of the ACA marketplaces was an annual ritual, federal health officials for a second year have not made a public prediction of how many people they expect to sign up.

Last week, the Trump administration introduced a proposed rule which, if adopted, would grant states greater flexibility in pursuing health care strategies.

The Affordable Care Act's sixth sign-up season opens Thursday amid stabilizing premiums and more choice for consumers.
