NASA spots SECOND strikingly rectangular iceberg in Antarctica

With much of the 'berg out of the frame, it wasn't clear how geometric the entire structure really was.

On October 16, the polar plane took off to assess changes in Larsen A, B, and C but our peculiar iceberg quickly stole the show after the space agency posted it to social media. As per the scientists, this tabular iceberg is said to be the products of the calving ice shelves. When the first photo was taken during a flight over Antarctica, the scientists had no idea the public would get so obsessed with the weird image.

NASA's statement also mentioned that it is the same ice sheet from which an ice chunk, the size of DE, had separated in July 2017.

NASA started this year's Operation IceBridge in October and some of the images show not just the majesty of southern polar ice, but also some of the rather odd and freaky shapes that icebergs can take.

These photos were captured by IceBridge senior support scientist Jeremy Harbeck, who spotted the tabular iceberg near the Larsen C ice shelf. This particular iceberg has also drawn the attention to the work NASA does in monitoring the changes in the planet's ice.

Tom Werner executive produces along with Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen and Tony Hernandez. ABC previously gave full season orders to sophomore drama "Station 19" and freshman comedy " Single Parents ".

Another rectangular iceberg spotted by the IceBridge team. "Indeed, the iceberg definitely captured the interest of the public, and the original photo of the object was shot at an angle that made the iceberg appear nearly perfectly square".

The image also captures A68 in the distance.

We will remind, what exactly from the glacier Larsen C in July, broke off a giant iceberg the size of the A68 with the Chernivtsi oblast.

In a new Operation IceBridge NASA video, shared this week, mission scientist John Sonntag provides commentary on the footage from an flight on 16 October over the tabular iceberg. It's now in the midst of a five-week project to chart icebergs in the Northern Antarctic Peninsula, a mission that's scheduled to conclude on November 18.
