Natalie Portman Is Ready to Give You a Show — Vox Lux Trailer

The film stars Academy Award victor Natalie Portman (Black Swan, Annihilation, Thor: The Dark World), Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Captain Marvel), Raffey Cassidy (Tomorrowland, The Killing of a Sacred Deer), Stacy Martin and Jennifer Ehle.

I caught the film at TIFF and found it to be staggering in what Corbet was attempting to take on if not wholly successful. After playing at Venice and TIFF and being picked up by NEON, Vox Lux was set for an early December release date, with the company hoping to repeat the I, Tonya-esque late contender magic they had a year ago.

The trailer leans heavily on the second half of the movie, which makes sense since that's the half that features Portman, and she's the draw.

Scientists say humans have started pooping microplastics
Microplastic may impact human health via the GI tract where it could affect the tolerance and immune response of the gut. Unlike other substances we eat, microplastics are too large to be absorbed by cells in the gut and simply pass through.

Freed Japanese journalist says Syria kidnap ordeal was 'hell'
A respected journalist who started his career at a local newspaper, Yasuda started reporting on the Middle East in early 2000s. In 2004, on another trip to Iraq, he was captured near Baghdad by militants, who held him for three days.

In director Brady Corbet's celebrity-obsessed Vox Lux, Portman (with her most distinct accent since Jackie) plays a pop star named Celeste, who's trying to reenergize her career following a scandal.

Following a young girl, Celeste (The Killing of a Sacred Deer's Raffey Cassidy), who survives a school shooting before becoming a world-renowned pop star, the preview charts her evolution from innocent victim to rage-filled diva robbed of her childhood by a heinous act of violence and subsequent rise to global fame. The sisters compose and perform a song about their experience, making something lovely and cathartic out of catastrophe - while also catapulting Celeste to stardom. Vox Lux is released in NY and LA on December 7, 2018, expanding nationwide December 14, 2018.

Natalie plays the adult version of Raffey's character Celeste.
