Iron Fist Canceled: Netflix Kills First Marvel Series

Following Netflix's decision to cancel Marvel's Iron Fist after two seasons, series star Finn Jones took to social media to mourn the superhero drama.

The first season of Iron Fist released in March 2017 was mauled by the critics, with many seeing it as the first major misstep in Netflix's Marvel shows.

"Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners", the statement continued. He also reprised his role in Netflix's Marvel crossover series The Defenders. The news comes over a month after the show's second season was released in its entirety on the streaming platform, to slightly better reviews than its critically maligned first season. In the comics Iron Fist/Danny Rand and Luke Cage have a friendship and partnership that has spanned decades and even a few ongoing series.

Deadline reporter Dominic Patten, however, points out the possibility of Iron Fist finding a new home on the new streaming service that Disney is set to launch next year.
