New Chromecast with updated design now official for $35

The updated device adds support for 60 fps streaming at 1080p, but does not support a 4K resolution, which is why the Chromecast Ultra remains Google's top-of-the-range media player.

The one new features coming to Chromecast is speaker groups. Walmart just sold the unreleased Chromecast as well, a few days before Google's fall press conference. In addition, the new dongle supports Chromecast Audio technology.

The new Chromecast also allows users to stream audio from services like YouTube Music and Spotify to their TV as well sync up the music to any speaker connected to Chromecast.

This is Google's first refresh of the Chromecast since 2015 and honestly, not much has changed.

Google launched its 3rd-generation Chromecast dongle today, still priced at a very reasonable $35. It comes in Chalk or Charcoal color offerings.
