Giants to release Ereck Flowers on Tuesday if not traded

The Giants plan on releasing offensive tackle Ereck Flowers by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday if they can not find a team willing to trade for him, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. During his first three seasons with the Giants, Flowers served as the team's left tackle, starting in 46 of a possible 48 regular-season games. He was supposed to be the team's left tackle for the next decade. He is making nearly $2.4 million this season.

The Giants waived Ereck Flowers on Tuesday, as their search to try to recoup anything for the draft bust ended predictably.

"It has run its course", Shurmur said of the decision to drop Flowers. In contrast, he turned out to be quite the opposite - a liability and the face of numerous Giants' offensive line failures. With Solder at left tackle, the Giants had Flowers move to right tackle, which is where he was playing until he was benched prior to Week 3.

Report: Giants place OT Flowers on trade block, may cut

"We appreciate Ereck Flowers' efforts with the team".

The Giants moved him to right tackle this offseason, and he started the first two games this year before they discontinued the experiment. We wish him the best. Since then, second-year pro Chad Wheeler has started New York's past three contests in Flowers's place opposite Solder.
