Ex-Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates saves teammate’s life during game

The Uruguay global defender, who formerly played for Liverpool and Sunderland, was in action for current club Sporting Lisbon against Portimonense in the Premeira Liga.

Romain Salin was on the ground following a collision with the post trying to prevent Portimonense's second goal, scored by Shoya Nakajima.

Coates noticed that his goalkeeper had been knocked unconscious whilst on his back and quickly put his fingers inside his mouth to prevent his team-mate from swallowing his tongue.

Uruguayan Coates then gestured to the medical team to come to the aid of his teammate.
