After the announcement that Telltale Games would be closing up shop and ceasing production on almost all of its projects, fans of the episodic game series The Walking Dead were left wondering if their years-long journey would end with no conclusion. The shutdown included major layoffs and closing its major studio. Not long ago, it was revealed Telltale had potentially been thrown a lifeline when multiple partners stepped forward and expressed interest in helping see The Final Season through to completion.

Skybound Games issued the announcement on Saturday, October 6 on Twitter.

IGN reports that The Walking Dead original creator Robert Kirkman originally made the announcement during a panel at the New York Comic-Con yesterday.

"We're SO happy to announce that we've reached a deal with Telltale Games that will allow Skybound to continue: The Final Season!". The aim is to keep the original development team intact as Skybound works with former Telltale leaders to come to an agreement. Following the second episode, many fans were left wondering what would happen next and soon they will have their answer. Rick Grimes' final season kicks off tomorrow night on AMC.
