Damon Wayans Reveals He's Quitting 'Lethal Weapon' for His Happiness

Following the news that Damon Wayans is exiting Lethal Weapon, many fans might be wondering if the series will be canceled.

It's the latest development in a tumultuous behind-the-scenes history for the Fox series, which saw the departure of its original Riggs, Clayne Crawford after the end of Season 2.

Despite that, the series' future was still in doubt, but when Fox did choose to renew it for Season 3 it did so with Seann William Scott replacing Crawford. "I don't know what they're planning, but that's what I'm planning".

In the interview, Wayans cites his age and the fact that he is diabetic as reasons he no longer wants to work the hours that a broadcast series requires.

Asked by his off-camera interviewer, "So you're over it?" Just before the Season 2 finale in May, former star Clayne Crawford - who played Riggs to Wayans' Murtaugh in the series adaptation of the popular action films - was sacked after being disciplined several times over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment on set.

Chinese warship's 'unsafe' encounter with USA vessel
The US said its plane was conducting routine operations in worldwide airspace, and called the incident an unsafe intercept. However, Beijing demands that foreign naval vessels seek its permission before transiting Chinese territorial waters.

Damon Wayans says he's done with Lethal Weapon. As for what he's going to do next, Wayans said, "I'm going to return to the stage and try to find my smile again".

Even as the show was renewed for the season, now airing on Fox, Wayans was still vocal about his relationship with Warner Bros. management, who had taken disciplinary action against him for his own on-set behavior. Though the show was never a ratings breakout in the USA, it does well internationally, and much of the draw was - of course - that these characters were based on ones from the popular movie franchise.

Here's how we got the news straight from Wayans' mouth.

"It's hard for me to play this loving, supportive father/husband/ friend on TV, but be the guy in life that is telling everyone, I can't I have to work". I'm too exhausted or I can't because it conflicts with work... My grandkids. I've been missing recitals and graduations and to me, it's not worth it. "There is a better way to live life".
