Why Kanye West's Yeezy sneakers will reportedly be banned by NBA

The NBA hadn't formally reviewed the new Yeezy shoe as of Monday, but the design West showcased most recently would not be permitted as is, a source told ESPN.

The sneakers, which West designed for Adidas, now feature reflective 3M panels on the heels which glow dramatically when hit with bright lights.

The sports news website claims the National Basketball Association finds the design of the 41-year-old's shoes distracting due to its "reflective-material heel".

The likely ban is based on images of the basketball sneakers that West began unveiling on social media in mid-September.

Weber named captain of Canadiens
Less than a month after trading Max Pacioretty to the Vegas Golden Knights , the Canadiens have found their next captain. He's no stranger to being a captain as he served in that capacity with the Predators for six years prior to being dealt.

According to Christopher Arena, the NBA's vice president of identity, outfitting and equipment, companies usually are submitted for approval for the first half of the season by early August.

West has called the sneaker YZY BSKTBL and said they will "definitely" drop sometime this season. The NBA's official footwear policy states that "shoes containing flashing lights or similar types of adornments (e, g., metallic or reflective) are not considered appropriate basketball footwear", meaning the significant amount of reflective material on the Yeezys would presumably disqualify them from on-court eligibility.

A price for the shoes has not been set. According to West, this model has been in development for more than 3 years and undergone close to 300 sample alterations.
