While walking around the 15-acre property, officers slipped passed a minivan outfitted with spring-loaded jaws of animal snares and walked around a circular hot tub turned on its side that was rigged to roll over any trespasser who triggered a tripwire, the newspaper reported.

A former southern OR property owner has been charged with assault on a federal officer after last month's incident.

The newspaper reported that Joseph Charter, the estate's acting receiver, contacted the authorities on August 29 after he found a sign on the property stating that it was being protected by "improvised devices".

"[It was] much like a scene from the movie Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark in which actor Harrison Ford is forced to outrun a giant stone boulder that he inadvertently triggered by a booby trap switch".

According to OregonLive, the agent yelled 'I'm hit!' when blood started gushing from his leg. The wheelchair got pushed, triggering the explosion and injuring the agent, according to court records.

The agent was hospitalized with a shotgun pellet lodged in his leg. Rodvelt, 66, faces a felony count of assault on a federal officer over the September 7 incident, the Mail Tribune reports.

Gregory Rodvelt, a 66-year-old from OR, is accused of creating the makeshift weapons after he was forced to forfeit the property as part of an abuse case involving his mother.

Rodvelt had been incarcerated in Maricopa County Jail in Arizona since April 2017 for a separate assault case following an armed standoff.

But when a county official who had been appointed to handle the property transfer saw a sign warning of "improvised devices", he called law enforcement, the Mail Tribune reported.

The Mail Tribune reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation apprehended Rodvelt near a grocery store in Surprise, Arizona.

He has been in jail since then, although police released him for two weeks so he could return to his home and prepare the property to be forfeited, according to The Associated Press.

Private military contractors have conducted a full sweep of the house of horrors in the weeks since the officer was injured.
